Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Equal Employment Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. As an Equal Employment Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our organization adheres to equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement affirmative action plans to promote diversity and inclusion within the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.
  • Conduct investigations and resolve complaints related to equal employment opportunity issues.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to identify and address barriers to equal employment opportunity.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to promote diversity and inclusion within the organization.
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • May be required to complete a background investigation and drug screening.
  • Must provide a resume and supporting documents.
  • Cannot hold an active real estate license or have an interest in firms with interest in Federal Lands.
  • Must complete a one-year probationary period.
  • Physical work locations in Santa Fe, NM and Phoenix, AZ are non-negotiable.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below.

GS-7:
  • One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience must include inputting information into a tracking system, reviewing submitted documents, and assisting with establishing and maintaining special emphasis programs.
GS-9:
  • One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience must include interviewing parties to a complaint/dispute, reviewing files and records, and analyzing employment statistics.
GS-11:
  • One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience must include reviewing charges of discrimination, reviewing and updating affirmative action plans, and providing advice on equal employment opportunity issues.

Please note that experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work. You must include months, years, and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited college or university. If you are using education to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
