Veterinary Assistant

Bright Cross Animal Clinic, a part of Southern Veterinary Partners, is a full-service animal hospital providing exceptional veterinary care to dogs and cats.

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team to provide exceptional care to our patients. You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments and procedures
• Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
• Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient's condition to DVM
• Care and maintenance of all medical equipment
• High quality client communication on patient updates and questions

Requirements include:

• High School diploma or GED certificate
• Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
• Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
• Strong communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
