Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced UFHealth Physician to join our team as a Nighthawk Specialist. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
Key Responsibilities- Provide full scope of clinical patient care and services, including diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventative care, and health maintenance to patients at UF Health Regional Network clinical sites.
- Evaluate patients in-person and ensure optimization to ASA perioperative standards, including thorough review of notes, cardiology, and other specialty referrals, appropriate labs, and other studies to evaluate and ensure patient readiness for surgery at least 48 hours in advance.
- Assume responsibility for appropriate operating rooms to provide relief for physicians who are ending their shifts and begin preoperative evaluations for inpatients scheduled for surgery the next day.
- Be present as needed in the preop clinic and the PACU to ensure patient readiness for surgery, prepare patients for regional blocks, and give status reports to board runners before shift end.
- Work collaboratively with members of the healthcare team, including pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff.
- Review incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) and follow up in a timely manner.
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
- Refer patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
- Manage the daily operations of a specific medical program or patient care unit.
- Direct and coordinate the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Participate in specified health promotion, education, and/or prevention programs.
- Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical and operational meetings as requested.
- Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
- Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes, plus four years of appropriate experience. Completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience.
- Specialty license or certification; board certified or board eligible in a specified area of medical specialty; certification/licensure in the state of Florida and federal DEA certification.
