Principal DevOps Engineer, Distribution Technology
The Team

The Role

The Principal DevOps Engineer will collaborate with a cohesive global team across three continents, focused on transforming how Invesco delivers the most client-centric digital experience in the industry through a comprehensive portfolio of digital web properties and applications.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing technology development solutions through new and existing DevOps processes, infrastructure, and automation. This encompasses the maintenance and support of applications and infrastructure, reviewing business requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and implementing solutions.

You will take ownership within an Agile team environment, exploring, testing, and implementing recent technologies while sharing on-call duties. A growth mindset for acquiring and mastering new skills, along with a passion for leading others in innovation, is essential.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage our technology stack in the Cloud (AWS) and data centers, supported by Red Hat Linux, utilizing a variety of open-source and commercial technologies.
  • Support multiple development teams working with Java-based applications and microservices architectures.
  • Ensure the reliability and uptime of Invesco's websites, applications, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with architecture review boards and solution architects to engage in viable solutions reviews and implementations.
  • Implement disaster recovery for all live applications requiring high availability, participating in annual business recovery tests.
  • Communicate effectively and troubleshoot issues with key IT resources.
  • Engage in team discussions regarding current events and technology.
  • Collaborate with the global team on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Share and promote best practices with other teams.
  • Act as a technology leader, key resource, and mentor for team members.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience as a versatile DevOps engineer with expertise in both cloud and on-premises environments. Experience in migrating on-premises to cloud solutions is advantageous.

Proficiency as a site reliability engineer and web administration on Linux is required. Familiarity with build/release tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Team City, Artifactory, Sonar Qube, Maven, Gradle, Node.js, NPM, Java) and the Atlassian suite (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence) is essential.

Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible), Docker containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) is necessary.

Experience hosting applications in the Cloud, preferably AWS (EKS, EC2, EBS, ALB, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudFront, WAF), and working with Java applications (Microservices, Spring Boot, JRE, JDK) is required.

Familiarity with content management systems and content delivery networks (AEM, Magnolia, CloudFront, Fastly) is a plus. Scripting experience (Bash, Perl, Python) and knowledge of monitoring and metrics tools (JMX, Icinga, Graphite, Grafana) are also beneficial.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical and critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks are essential. You should be able to work effectively in a global, multicultural environment and influence relationships at all organizational levels.
