Cardiac Sonographer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing and assisting in the completion of ultrasound imaging exams, including echocardiograms and other cardiac procedures.

You will work closely with licensed independent practitioners to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging results. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in this role.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing and assisting in the completion of ultrasound imaging exams
• Preparing patients for procedures and applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure
• Corroborating patient clinical history with ordered procedures and verifying informed consent
• Identifying and escalating emergency situations and managing until appropriate personnel arrive
• Providing patient education and mentoring students and other learners in the Radiology environment

Requirements include:

• Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
• Graduation from a CAAHEP or CMA accredited program in cardiac sonography or a minimum of a 2-year JRC accredited program
• 1-3 years of previous work experience as a Cardiac Sonographer/Technologist

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in cardiac sonography and previous work experience in an academic medical center environment.
