Job Overview

The Service Manager is responsible for ensuring the terminal maintenance facility operates smoothly and efficiently, guaranteeing that all vehicles and equipment receive timely and precise maintenance to minimize disruptions in workflow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for Company equipment, ensuring operations are safe and cost-effective.
  • Reviews and approves all equipment repairs, effectively organizing and delegating tasks to enhance the efficiency and quality of the mechanics' work.
  • Guides, supervises, and evaluates mechanics in their daily responsibilities, ensuring adherence to Company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Operations department to schedule routine and emergency maintenance efficiently.
  • Manages the procurement of routine and special mechanical parts, ensuring timely availability while monitoring costs for effectiveness.
  • Ensures accurate and prompt data entry into the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Regularly reviews work orders and time allocations to ensure accuracy and efficiency, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Addresses and resolves shop-related issues impartially and effectively, following Company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of D.O.T, manufacturer, and Company regulations applicable to all serviced equipment.
  • Fosters productive relationships with other departments and employees within the Company.
  • Ensures all activities comply with the Company's safety protocols and practices.
  • Trains subordinates on safety procedures, keeping them informed of new regulations and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Conducts regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and implements corrective actions promptly.
  • Encourages a safety-oriented culture within the shop, promoting open communication regarding safety concerns and improvement suggestions.
  • Performs additional duties as required by business needs or assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven leadership and organizational capabilities.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems.
  • Familiarity with D.O.T and manufacturer regulations.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dedication to maintaining a safe working environment.
