Job Title: Shuttle/Bus Driver

Chatham University is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Shuttle/Bus Driver to transport students, faculty, and staff across campus. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Pennsylvania commercial driver's license, a clean driving record, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate university shuttle buses and vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Follow specific routes, charter routes, or respond to requests from dispatch or management
  • Assist passengers in boarding and exiting vehicles, including wheelchair lifts
  • Transmit and receive messages via two-way radio or cellular telephone
  • Monitor traffic and weather conditions and notify dispatch of potential problems
  • Report crashes, accidents, or other safety situations to dispatch
  • Inspect vehicles at the beginning of each shift for properly operating equipment
  • Ensure consistent cleanliness of vehicle interior and exterior
  • Refuel vehicles to adequate fuel levels to support operations while maintaining schedule
  • Monitor vehicle condition and report malfunctioning items or damage on the appropriate form
  • Accurately complete driver trip sheet for each shift
  • Learn and remember locations of various destination points serviced by the fleet
  • Verify that persons boarding the vehicle are authorized to ride
  • Treat all riders in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner
  • Provide other work-related duties as requested
Qualifications:
  • Valid Pennsylvania Class A or B commercial driver's license with passenger transportation and air brake endorsement
  • Above average motor vehicle record and driving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible work schedules
  • Must be able to pass Department of Transportation physical exam and successfully complete an Alcohol/Drug screening process
Physical Requirements:
  • Medium work, 50 pounds lifting, occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds
  • Unrestricted sitting/walking/standing
Salary:

$21.53 per hour, 40 hour work week
