As a key member of our District Attorney's Office, you will be responsible for leading a team of legal professionals and overseeing the prosecution of complex and high-level felony cases.

Responsibilities:

* Maintain a functional knowledge of Constitutional law, federal law, and Kansas statutes to serve as a subject matter expert and make appropriate prosecutorial decisions.
* Apply legal expertise to prepare and present complex cases to the court, including review of evidence, persuasive legal argument, and effective motions practice.
* Promote positive and collaborative professional working relationships with agency partners, including internal partners, law enforcement, and the judiciary.
* Maintain required continuing legal education hours and pursue elective continuing education opportunities to develop subject matter expertise.
* Supervise a team of legal professionals, including assisting in the recruitment and selection of entry-level attorneys, developing and implementing team goals and policies, and providing ongoing coaching and counseling.

Requirements:

* Juris Doctorate and active Kansas license to practice law.
* Eight years of prosecution experience, including experience serving as lead counsel on high-level and/or complex criminal cases.
* Demonstrated leadership abilities through appointments to community/agency partner boards or service project leadership.

Working Conditions:

* May be required to handle physical evidence, including weapons and biological materials.
* May be exposed to disturbing materials, including photos, videos, and written reports.
* May be required to work additional hours during times of jury trials and on-call.
