Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer is a proficient maintenance expert focusing on plumbing, HVAC systems, and electrical repairs. This position entails engaging in the daily upkeep and restoration of facilities and surroundings. The compensation structure for this role reflects the individual's expertise in maintenance responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engages in the daily upkeep and restoration of facilities, emphasizing plumbing, kitchen, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Conducts regular visual assessments of properties and grounds during daily tasks, promptly reporting and addressing any identified concerns.
- Operates and maintains mechanical systems within the establishment, including domestic water systems, hot water systems, chilled water systems, and pool systems.
- Responds to requests from staff and guests in a polite and timely manner, providing effective solutions to maintenance issues.
- Manages inventory of supplies and equipment pertinent to plumbing, HVAC, and electrical maintenance.
- Maintains a personal toolkit essential for the Maintenance Engineer role.
- Ensures a tidy work environment and keeps tools and equipment in optimal condition.
- Adheres to company policies and management directives.
- Consistently performs duties in accordance with Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) standards and company safety protocols.
- Seeks opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
- Maintains a professional appearance and complies with uniform requirements.
- May be available for on-call work as needed.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance on guest accommodations and building equipment, repairing or replacing faulty components, and assisting with additional maintenance needs as required.
- Completes all other job-related tasks as assigned.
- Proficient with standard tools and experienced in basic and semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks related to plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety regulations, and maintenance instructions.
- Detail-oriented and thorough in work execution.
- A degree from a four-year institution is preferred but not required.
- Relevant maintenance experience combined with a degree from a two-year institution is acceptable.
- Prior experience as a hotel maintenance engineer or similar maintenance experience in settings such as apartment complexes or office buildings is advantageous.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Internet usage, email, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, memos, and reports.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Strong capacity to apply critical thinking and common sense to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Proficient in problem-solving involving complex variables in standardized situations.
