Position Overview
The primary objective of this role is to execute the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department in compliance with existing federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility. This position is directed by the Executive Director and/or the Director of Housekeeping to ensure that our environment is kept clean, safe, and comfortable.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping Duties
- Carry out daily cleaning tasks as assigned while adhering to established safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Follow cleaning schedules as closely as feasible.
- Coordinate daily cleaning services with nursing staff when conducting routine cleaning in resident living and recreational areas.
- Maintain assigned areas in a clean, safe, and visually appealing condition.
- Dispose of personal protective equipment according to established sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure an adequate supply of cleaning materials is available in utility/janitorial closets.
- Assist colleagues in lifting heavy items as needed.
- Regularly clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, and heating/cooling units in resident rooms and common areas.
- Sanitize and polish bathroom fixtures, ensuring water marks are removed.
- Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, and entry/exit points.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Must demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions, follow directions, and accept constructive feedback. Capable of interacting tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, and government personnel. Must be comfortable working with individuals who are ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally distressed. Proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding English is essential for effective communication with supervisors, staff, residents, and families.
