Job Summary:

The Flight Medic is responsible for providing emergency medical care to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role requires a high level of skill and expertise in emergency medical procedures, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough checks of the aircraft and base at the beginning of each shift, including cleaning, disinfecting, and stocking of needed supplies.
  • Assist the pilot in the completion of preflight inspections and participate in shift safety briefings.
  • Provide medical care to patients in-flight, utilizing the aircraft navigation systems and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain communication with Penncomm and local communications centers as needed.
  • Participate in pre-liftoff and landing safety checklists and maintain a safe and functional landing zone.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • PA DOH EMT-Paramedic Certification.
  • Current ACLS, PALS, BCLS, and PHTLS certifications.
  • National Registry - Paramedic required.
  • FP-C certification required within 1 year for new hires.
  • At least 5 years of full-time employment experience as a Paramedic with a busy 911 service.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Live within 40 miles of the assigned PennSTAR Base(s) within 1 year of hire date.
