We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Fairfax County, VA. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the operations of our pharmacy unit, working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective distribution of medications to our first responders.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Medication Management: Assist pharmacists with medication management, including receiving, storing, and dispensing medications, as well as monitoring and reporting on medication inventory levels.
- Support Pharmacy Operations: Provide administrative support to the pharmacy team, including maintaining accurate records, processing prescriptions, and performing other tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
- Ensure Compliance with Regulations: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmaceutical storage, distribution, and use, as well as maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: At least four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Administrative Assistant IV, or higher, level.
- Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy or certified through an ASHP/ACPE accredited pharmacy technician training program.
- Experience in Emergency Medicine: Prior experience working in emergency medicine or directly with EMS agencies.
- Pharmacy Technician Experience: Prior experience working as a pharmacy technician in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
- Controlled Substances Management: Experience managing controlled substances, including regulatory compliance, inventory management, and ensuring proper use within an EMS context.
- Interdisciplinary Team Experience: Experience working in interdisciplinary teams, particularly in high-stress environments such as emergency medicine or public safety.
