We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our team at the University of California. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Under the direction of a surgical charge nurse, perform less complicated surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of surgical equipment, supplies, and instruments.
- Order and stock specialty equipment, supplies, and track inventory.
- Communicate with surgeons, related buyers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and supplies.
- Provide continuing education in-service to staff on the proper use and maintenance of surgical equipment.
- Manage and process hazardous materials, disposable, and non-disposable equipment and instruments per protocol and regulations.
- Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist training or equivalent.
- BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
- Prior Surgical Technician experience and one or more years of operating room experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, patient experience, and positive attitude.
- One year of previous Surgical Technician experience in vascular and endovascular surgery cases.
- Lean Six Sigma and/or project management experience.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Availability of a minimum of eight shifts per month is required, with a minimum of one shift per week. Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs and work overtime as required.
Annual Full Pay Range: $66,148 - $82,267 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $39.40.
