As an Optometrist 4 at the University of California, you will provide high-level clinical practice in specialty contact lens exams and general eye care. You will work under the direction of the Optometry Manager and collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties to ensure proper eye health and treatment for patients. Your regular duties will include handling triage visits, emergent visits, prescribing optical devices, and procedures, as well as providing optometric support for the Department of Ophthalmology.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialty contact lens exams and general eye care to patients
- Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties to ensure proper eye health and treatment
- Handle triage visits and emergent visits
- Prescribe optical devices and procedures
- Provide optometric support for the Department of Ophthalmology
- Doctoral degree in optometry issued by an accredited school/college of optometry
- Experience in recognizing conditions and pathology that require specialty intervention
- Experience in the use of lensometer, phoropter, keratometer, radiuscope, tonometers, soft and rigid contact lenses, slit lamp biomicroscope, and retinoscope
- Experience carrying out specialized clinical procedures including contact lens evaluation and fitting and refraction on patients ranging from pediatric through geriatric
- Completion of a residency program within the area of specialty
