The Commercial Processor plays a crucial role in supporting the Commercial Underwriting team by ensuring the seamless flow of business requests, including submissions, endorsements, and other policy-related documents, through established departmental processes. This position requires the application of independent judgment alongside pre-defined procedures and guidelines to fulfill primary job responsibilities. Additionally, this role involves participation in compliance audits and periodic user testing of product modifications and enhancements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a range of commercial tasks, including data entry, property rating, policy issuance, endorsements, and cancellations.
- Prequalify new business applications and renewal information for analysis and quote handling by underwriters.
- Assist the Underwriting Unit with loss control tasks, compliance follow-ups, outstanding file documentation, and other general underwriting activities.
- Input financial and policy/rating data into the rating software platform.
- Communicate regularly with agents, underwriters, accounting, and premium finance companies for additional underwriting and billing information, applications, and various payment resolutions.
- Process policy endorsements in accordance with established authority or as approved.
- Evaluate workflows and provide feedback on potential modifications. Collaborate with IT and other departments during the testing of commercial product changes and enhancements under management guidance.
- Generate basic business analytics reports and other operational status reports for departmental management.

EDUCATION
A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of one to three years of relevant work experience or training is required.
CERTIFICATIONS
Completion of insurance education coursework in the INS 21, 22, 23 series is required within one year of hire.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to write basic reports and business correspondence, present information clearly, and respond effectively to inquiries. Strong communication skills, active listening, and adaptability are essential.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
This role requires basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, counting, and basic measuring.
DATA UTILIZATION
Compile and record data according to guidelines, and understand basic numerical data to analyze performance metrics and identify straightforward trends for decision-making.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve basic problems with limited guidance, understand various types of instructions, and develop simple solutions. Make straightforward decisions and identify obvious challenges.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to quickly learn new software and possess a foundational understanding of relevant applications.
