Overview:
Responsible for the transportation of blood, blood derivatives, campus correspondence, medical supplies, and equipment across various locations including processing centers, medical facilities, and collection sites.

Position Schedule:

Candidates should be prepared to work a flexible schedule with an 8-hour shift between the hours of 3:00 PM and 3:00 AM from Wednesday to Sunday, with days off on Monday and Tuesday.


Training Schedule:

Candidates must be available for training sessions from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, for a duration of 1-2 weeks.


Key Responsibilities:


The following responsibilities are representative of the essential functions performed in this role. This list is not exhaustive and does not preclude management from assigning additional duties as necessary.

Efficiently and accurately transport unprocessed and processed blood, medical supplies, and equipment using the designated vehicle (van/small truck).

Adhere to safe driving practices during transport and comply with all traffic regulations.

Safely load and unload vehicles, utilizing proper lifting techniques.


Deliver items to specified locations along a designated route, which may include hospitals, medical facilities, and mobile units; may require the use of public transportation in emergency situations (e.g., airline, bus, train, etc.).

Maintain a log of items received and delivered; document daily activities as required.

Conduct basic safety checks of the assigned vehicle prior to departure according to standard operating procedures; report any mechanical issues.

Serve as a backup driver for other shifts or routes as needed.

Inform the supervisor of any concerns, issues, or delays.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent; preferred experience includes six months to one year in route delivery.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a current and valid driver's license in good standing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and drive for extended periods.

Capability to navigate city streets and highways safely, determining the most efficient routes.

Knowledge of safe operating procedures and proper handling of blood and blood products.

Ability to maintain accurate records and follow complex instructions.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate self-motivation.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.

Proficiency in using digital technology and communication tools (smartphones, tablets, etc.).

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
