Food Safety Sanitation Specialist

Overview:
The role involves executing standard sanitation protocols on food processing machinery and utensils, while ensuring the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the facility in compliance with food manufacturing standards.
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conduct standard cleaning procedures as per documented training for equipment and facilities.
This encompasses:
disassembly and reassembly, application of cleaning and sanitizing agents, scrubbing, and rinsing.
Utilize personal protective equipment as necessary for each cleaning task.
Mix and combine required cleaning solutions as specified for each assignment.
Exercise caution and adhere to proper handling protocols.
Understand the safe operation of equipment, including safety devices and guards.
Follow lockout/tag out and safety protocols as instructed for each piece of machinery.
Comprehend correct labeling of chemicals and containers.
Adhere to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and complete necessary documentation for both daily and Master Sanitation programs.
Collect and dispose of all waste from production and packaging lines, kitchen, and warehouse areas in designated dumpsters.
Gather recyclable materials and place them in appropriate bins.
Immediately report any malfunctioning equipment to the Sanitation Team Leader or on-duty technician.
Inspect each cleaning task upon completion to ensure it meets standards and rectify any deficiencies.
Comply with the policies and regulations outlined in the employee handbook, safety manual, and GMP guidelines.
Be certified to operate a forklift and scissors lift.
Monitor and manage water usage effectively.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
All employees are responsible for upholding the mission of the Food Safety and Quality Policy, which includes adhering to all Food Safety and Sustainability programs and participating in required training.

Education and/or Experience
No prior experience required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and understand chemical labels and complete relevant forms.
Mathematical Skills
No specific mathematical skills required.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute simple one or two-step instructions.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties outlined above, the employee is frequently required to walk on wet surfaces, navigate ladders and stairs, operate high-pressure hoses, handle cleaning chemicals, and work in humid and warm environments.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and must perform tasks at elevated heights.
The employee will be working with strong cleaning agents and must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in conditions that may be extremely hot, cold, or humid.
The noise level in the work environment is typically loud, due to equipment such as tray washers and fans. The work environment is subject to many of the aforementioned conditions on a daily basis, and it is essential to perform all job functions while in the presence of these conditions.
