Mighty Banyans Mascot "Rooty" Ambassador

As the Mighty Banyans Mascot "Rooty", you will be responsible for embodying the spirit and character of New College, engaging with audiences of all ages, and enhancing fan experience at events, games, and promotional activities.

• Perform as Rooty the Mighty Banyan at New College and community appearances, remaining in character while wearing the costume.
• Entertain and engage fans through dance routines, stunts, and crowd interactions during games and events.
• Encourage audience participation, including leading cheers and chants, and posing for photos with fans.
• Represent New College mission and core values in a positive and friendly manner through performances at on and off-campus events.
• Commit to the assigned schedule of Rooty appearances at on-campus and off-campus events.
• Maintain the proper use of Rooty costume as directed.
• Interact, in character, with New College students, faculty, staff, parents & families, children, alumni, and communities' members.
• Work events throughout the year, including evenings and weekends, as applicable.
• Arrive to assignments punctual and prepared.
• Distribute New College promotional items designed to create good will and increase school spirit.
• Pose for photographs and communicate without speaking as directed.

• Must be outgoing, social individuals.
• Must be in a physical condition that supports both wearing heavy costumes and standing or walking for extended periods of time and variable weather conditions.
• Must work well with others, including children and fans of all ages.
• Must be able to read individuals' social cues to understand the level of interaction each fan may want.
• Strong non-verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey emotions and enthusiasm through physical gestures and expressions.
• A friendly and engaging personality, with the ability to interact positively with fans and represent the organization professionally.
• Comfortable performing in a confined costume with limited visibility and mobility, adapting to different performance environments and situations.

• Prior experience performing as a mascot.
• Ideal applicants for the position of mascot should be motivated in generating school or team spirit.
