Overview:


This role involves monitoring the hospital premises to ensure a secure and healthy environment for patients, families, and staff.

This position requires fostering a positive working relationship with Children's Health System of Texas employees, various agencies, and the public to facilitate effective communication and procedures in a professional manner.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal and external patrols of the hospital facility, enforcing hospital policies, rules, and regulations; provide directions and information throughout the premises and assist with security issues
  • Ensure all hospital entry and exit points are secure
  • Verify the identification of all individuals entering the campus or building
  • Document incidents occurring on campus property
  • Report any irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activities to the appropriate personnel
  • Address and assist with security concerns raised by staff, visitors, and patient families across all Children's Health System of Texas properties
  • Respond to audible emergency alarms and instructions received via public safety radio
  • Provide clear responses to public inquiries and communicate effectively over a public safety radio
  • Occasionally escort students, staff, faculty, or visitors as needed
  • Offer motorist assistance when required
  • Maintain a standing position for extended periods
  • Be prepared for assignment changes based on departmental needs
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
This is a full-time position.

Occasional floating to other Children's Health locations may be required. (Start time hours can be discussed during interviews)

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (e.g., customer service, healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement, or military) is required

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Texas Department of Public Safety - Texas Private Security Bureau Registration - Non-Commissioned Security Officer training and certification within 6 months of employment is required
  • Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Driver's License upon employment is required
  • Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PPMAB) training must be renewed according to standard every 60 days, required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as mandated by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements
  • Basic Level Certification (CHSO) through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety organization must be obtained within 180 days of hire for new employees; existing employees must obtain this certification by the specified deadline.
