Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Hanford Vit Plant, a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste into a safe form for disposal. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing standard engineering deliverables, such as calculations, piping and instrumentation drawings, and material requisitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical reports, studies, design documentation, calculations using engineering software, and specifications for complex mechanical equipment.
  • Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines in the development of the design.
  • Knowledge of industry, and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule.
  • Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 1-2 years of progressive related experience.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in fluid system design in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities.
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining EIT or Professional Registration (PE) License in Mechanical, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering within one (1) year of hire date.
