Your Role
The Senior Electrical Engineer position is a vital part of the Ennis Freshpet Engineering team. This role encompasses both Capital Project and Plant Support responsibilities. In terms of Capital Projects, the Senior Electrical Engineer will engage in significant capital initiatives in collaboration with Design-Build contractors to design and execute substantial expansions of fresh pet food manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include coordinating and developing electrical designs, specifications, construction management, and overseeing equipment commissioning. Additionally, the Senior Electrical Engineer will provide support for existing operational facilities, assess current electrical systems, and manage proactive electrical maintenance programs. This role will also conduct engineering studies such as load studies, arc flash assessments, and power management, offering technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing operations as necessary.
Impact You Will Have
- Oversee and review electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents from Design-Builders, providing direction on the electrical scope of work and project requirements.
- Develop and assess designs, P&IDs, and drawings for technical accuracy and content.
- Ensure projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Provide technical support and coordinate materials and resources necessary for engineering tasks, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Guarantee that engineering standards for projects adhere to NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards (and others as required) and that construction aligns with these standards.
- Establish and manage a comprehensive proactive electrical maintenance program.
- Conduct engineering studies, including load flow analysis, arc flash evaluations, surge suppression, relay coordination, ground grid design, transformer sizing, and conductor and cable sizing.
- Manage project budgets, including cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and regular reporting.
- Create conceptual design documents, drawings, and scope of work parameters for project solutions.
- Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and subcontractors as needed based on project requirements.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing operations as necessary.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new equipment, technologies, and practices to enhance manufacturing and infrastructure reliability, improve quality and sustainability, and reduce operational costs.
- Collaborate with internal EH&S resources to enforce equipment safety standards and procedures. Support safety upgrades as required in the plant network and promote commitment-based safety practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BS) in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or equivalent industry experience is highly preferred).
- A minimum of 8 years of Project Engineering experience, with at least 3 years in food and beverage manufacturing preferred.
- Experience in large green/brown field plant design and construction projects is a strong advantage.
- Proficient knowledge of power distribution and motor and machine electrical control.
- Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and schematic diagrams.
- Willingness to work off-hours and weekends/holidays as required.
- Computer skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
