Medical Assistant

Texas Oncology is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to support our clinical team in providing high-quality cancer care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinics, working closely with physicians and clinicians to deliver exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities:
Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this Medical Assistant role will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants. This is an entry-level position requiring 0-3 years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Current BCLS certification is required within 3 months of hire. Certified Medical Assistant is preferred. Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant.
