Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
  • Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP
  • Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
  • Employ various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals
  • Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP
  • Create a positive learning experience with emphasis on individualized instruction
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Serve as primary contact for parents
  • Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations
  • Provide direction, supervision, and evaluation of educational assistants as directed
  • Comply with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations
  • Complete all district and state reporting requirements
Requirements:
  • MUST POSSESS A VALID SPECIAL EDUCATION CREDENTIAL FOR THE STATE
  • Education and experience as required by state authorities
  • Ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students
  • Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds
Working Conditions:
  • Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions
  • Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required
  • Job requires the operation of standard office equipment
