HIV Biomarker Research Scientist

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant life science or bioengineering field, accompanied by a minimum of 2 years of practical laboratory experience. The ability to conduct experiments independently following initial guidance from seasoned lab personnel is essential. Familiarity with cell culture, blood processing, and immunoassays is highly desirable. Additional experience in primary cell culture and flow cytometry will be advantageous.



Key Responsibilities:

The Infectious Disease and Vaccines division is looking for candidates for a role focused on HIV Biomarkers.

This position will involve various aspects of HIV biomarker research, including:

  • Receipt, documentation, and processing of patient blood samples into PBMCs.
  • Isolation of cells from HIV-positive human tissue samples.
  • Execution of biomarker assays on the aforementioned samples (including pPCR, standard and ultra-sensitive ELISAs, and potentially flow cytometry).
  • Support in the development, validation, and execution of biomarker assays.
  • Evaluation of test compounds in primary cell HIV assays. This role is dynamic and requires a hands-on approach in the laboratory. Handling of HIV-positive materials (both lab strains and patient-derived samples) is a necessary aspect of the job. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, time management, and the capacity to learn to operate advanced laboratory equipment and automation are also critical.
