The Pediatric Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in the Operating Room, assisting in the delivery of high-quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position involves preparing the surgical environment and ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available for procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Assist in Patient Care:** Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement care plans that align with physician preferences and nursing assessments.
2. **Operating Room Preparation:** Set up the Operating Room with required instruments and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment.
3. **Instrument Handling:** Manage surgical instruments during procedures, maintaining a focus on patient safety and care.
4. **Communication:** Relay important patient information to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
5. **Equipment Management:** Maintain knowledge of surgical equipment and instruments, ensuring proper usage and aseptic techniques.
6. **Documentation:** Accurately document quality controls and adhere to unit-specific standards.
7. **Team Collaboration:** Support team members through effective problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in an Operating Room setting or completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks requiring constant standing, walking, and lifting.
- Capability to communicate effectively and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required.
Work Environment:
This position may involve variable shifts and requires a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
