Job Title: School Nurse

Join the Baltimore County Public Schools team as a School Nurse, providing comprehensive school health services to students and staff.

Job Summary:

The School Nurse will deliver a comprehensive school health services program, collaborating with school staff to ensure health services are coordinated and integrated with the school program. The successful candidate will provide health consultation to the principal and health services to employees for acute illness and injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer first aid for injury and illness, and administer medications and health care treatments as needed.
  • Identify health barriers to student achievement and work with school staff and families to remediate those barriers.
  • Provide and coordinate health care interventions, including emergency responses.
  • Develop a plan of care for students with chronic health conditions.
  • Assess the health needs of the school community and coordinate health matters between the healthcare provider, family, and the school.
  • Conduct, coordinate, and follow-up health screening programs.
  • Maintain school health records, including ensuring compliance with state health mandates for school attendance.
  • Monitor the spread of communicable diseases and develop strategies to control their spread.
  • Promote a safe and orderly school environment.
  • Provide health counseling and health education, and assist the principal and staff to improve student achievement.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in nursing.
  • Two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice registered nursing (RN), issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • Possession of current CPR certification.
