POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Licensed Physical Therapist, you will provide therapeutic interventions to patients by assessing their functional capabilities and selecting suitable treatment modalities to enhance or restore their physical abilities. You will engage in a collaborative approach to community education and clinical training of students.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Must be a graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy program with at least a Bachelor’s degree. A valid Connecticut license in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy is required. Certification as a Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist is mandatory.

COMPETENCIES:
This role necessitates excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Windows-based software, is essential for departmental tasks. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is advantageous but not obligatory. Reliable transportation is necessary for travel between various work locations as part of the job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assess patients according to departmental standards.
2. Adapt evaluations based on patient symptoms, activity levels, and medical history, setting individualized, measurable goals.
3. Implement appropriate therapeutic exercises aimed at improving strength, endurance, coordination, and range of motion.
4. Apply physical modalities and manual therapy techniques to alleviate pain and achieve treatment objectives.
5. Utilize effective methods to enhance motor function and learning.
6. Instruct patients and their families on home exercise regimens and functional activities to promote independence.
7. Evaluate when a patient has reached optimal treatment benefits and recommend discharge when suitable.
8. Maintain documentation in compliance with insurance regulations and departmental policies.
9. Foster communication with interdepartmental staff and referring physicians regarding patient care.
10. Accurately complete and submit daily charges.
11. Uphold the professional ethics as established by the APTA and the facility.
12. Perform all tasks with appropriate body mechanics and safety protocols to prevent injuries.
13. Supervise at least one student annually.
14. Participate in continuing education to enhance treatment methodologies.
15. Engage in departmental or community educational programs as required.
