EchoStar Corporation, a global leader in satellite communication solutions, is seeking an experienced Vice President to lead the accounting function for its Hughes segment.

As a key member of the EchoStar team, you will be responsible for consolidations and equity accounting, inventory management, project cost management, and all aspects related to the general ledger. You will also bridge the needs of both the EchoStar corporate accounting function in Denver and the Hughes business changes/needs impacting accounting/reporting.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of progressive accounting experience with recent experience at a multi-national public company, including responsibility over the consolidated close, technical accounting, and financial reporting. They will also possess 5+ years of progressive management experience and be an active CPA.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team, drive change, and envision the next steps of the accounting function to support those changes. The position requires domestic and international travel, but less than 20% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the GL accounting function for our Hughes segment
  • Bridge the needs of both the EchoStar corporate accounting function and the Hughes business
  • Review policies, processes, procedures, and internal controls of the existing Hughes businesses
  • Coordinate statutory reporting requirements and compliance for Hughes' international subsidiaries
  • Create and present ad-hoc analytics and reporting to support the Hughes business teams
  • Manage the overall month-end close and operational processes
  • Review financial statements and support the preparation of external financial statements
  • Develop solutions and systems to capture financial data for unique business transactions
  • Research and interpret accounting principles and pronouncements
  • Provide accurate and timely data for audits and other regulatory filings

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous responsibility over the consolidated close, technical accounting, and financial reporting
  • 5+ years of progressive management experience
  • Active CPA
