Neurology Clinics Advanced Practice Provider

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our General Neurology Clinics team at Duke University. As a key member of our team, you will work in collaboration with attending physicians and APPs to provide high-quality patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies, and providing direct patient care services.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing neurological problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
- Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patients.
- Practice will be limited to general neurology, with a mix of new and return patients as determined by supervising neurologists. Additionally, there is an opportunity for 1-2 clinic sessions/week for procedures such as botulinum toxin injections, occipital nerve block, and lumbar puncture.
- Participation in clinical research or teaching opportunities is available based on discussion with supervising neurologists.
- Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Certification: BLS required. National certification as a NP or PA required.
- License: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred. Experience providing neurological care is preferred.
Job HoursMonday-Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet clinic needs.
