The Outpatient Pharmacy Associate plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists with the management of prescription orders and the preparation and distribution of medications for patients in outpatient settings.

Typical Working Hours:
Shifts may begin as early as 7:30 AM and conclude as late as 7:00 PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:


Receive and process prescriptions, establish billing and patient charges, accurately document patient allergies, and input outpatient prescription information into the computer system.

Prepare and package injectable and oral medications for outpatient use.

Independently resolve online adjudication issues with Third Party Payors without requiring pharmacist intervention.

Maintain cleanliness and organization within the outpatient pharmacy.

Restock pharmacy supplies and alert pharmacists or inventory coordinators of any concerns.

Utilize mathematical and problem-solving skills (e.g., algebra) to determine the necessary quantities of medication for prescription preparation.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent

Licensure:
Registered or Certified Pharmacy Technician License

Certifications:
Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on a certification exam prior to employment (CPhT, ExCPT)

Skills:
Proven proficiency in algebra demonstrated by passing a math competency assessment administered on-site.

Experience:
Preferred six months of prior pharmacy experience.
