Position Overview

The Eye Care Group is in search of dedicated Ophthalmic Assistants who will operate on the clinic floor, providing essential support to our physicians and fellow staff members. The primary objective of the Ophthalmic Technician is to enhance team performance and deliver outstanding patient care. Our Technicians play a crucial role in upholding the mission, vision, values, and principles of The Eye Care Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Possess a solid understanding of ophthalmic assisting practices, addressing inquiries and concerns with professionalism and friendliness.
  • Execute all tasks of an Ophthalmic Technician as instructed by a physician or leadership, including but not limited to vision assessments, intraocular pressure checks, locating patients' glasses prescriptions, and assisting with clinical procedures.
  • Gather comprehensive medical histories from patients.
  • Facilitate the training and mentorship of new technicians, fostering a culture of learning and inclusivity.
  • Conduct various diagnostic evaluations.
  • Exhibit excellent attendance to support patient care and team collaboration.
  • Contribute to team meeting agendas and participate in presentations as required.
  • Demonstrate punctuality by adhering to scheduled work hours.
  • Monitor personal productivity and responsibilities on the clinical floor, updating methods as necessary to maintain efficiency and quality service.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor characterized by cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Adhere to all practice protocols and procedures, complying with state and federal regulations, and reporting any potential or suspected errors to the direct manager or HR.
  • Assist Ophthalmologists during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health record management is essential.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Preferred: 2+ years of relevant experience.

Proficient computer skills, capable of navigating multiple screens, accurately entering data, and familiarity with electronic medical records; experience with NexGen or Nextech is advantageous.

Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

COVID vaccination is required.

Work schedule: 5 days a week, totaling 37.5 hours.
