Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled CARDIOPULMONARY NURSE SPECIALIST to join our team at UPMC - Pittsburgh Medical Center. This is a full-time position that requires the ideal candidate to have excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

This role will play a vital part in supporting the Cardiac Rehab unit at our McCandless and Cranberry locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
  • Incorporate national professional organization goals, business unit objectives, and health system initiatives to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Create personalized treatment plans, monitor progress, and make necessary modifications.
  • Evaluate patient status, offer support, and educate patients and families on treatment plans.
  • Document patient information accurately and maintain comprehensive records.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Participate in unit-based shared governance, goal setting, and support change processes to improve quality of care and practice environments.
  • Serve as a highly engaged partner on the care team, responding willingly to member needs for assistance and partnership.
  • Maintain productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleagues.
  • Education and Development:
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of adult learning principles and apply in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff.
  • Provide detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to guide them through episodes of care and transition to another level of care or home.
  • Support student development, special projects, and community programs.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school for registered nurses.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience.
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN), Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Act 34.
