We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager, Environmental Services to join our team at the University of Nebraska Omaha. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing continuing education programs for staff development, hiring new employees, and expanding and revising program materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the recruitment and hiring of new employees, ensuring a fair and accurate review process.
  • Develop and teach Orientation Training Programs for all new employees, maintaining accurate files on each new hire.
  • Contribute to decisions regarding personnel issues, providing supervision as needed and in the absence of the manager.
  • Responsible for scheduling, payroll, and direct supervision of the overnight and AM crew.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals, including reward and recognition programs.
Essential Functions
  • Evaluate and implement custodial educational training programs for staff development.
  • Conduct annual training on bloodborne pathogens, chemical usage, and various safety programs.
  • Maintain accurate educational files on each employee.
  • Evaluate areas of the campus systematically through Supervisor's Quality Assurance Inspection Report.
  • Maintain appropriate supply usage by the department and MSDS on chemical usage.
  • Responsible for maintaining a replacement log that tracks the testing of carpet for building renovations and new construction.
  • Maintain and develop personal competence by taking advantage of seminars, conferences, and education courses.
Requirements
  • High school education.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in an environmental services operation, including management experience.
  • Required license/certification: None.
