Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
This role is based in various locations across the state/country with extended periods of travel required up to 95%. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, and other machinery for substation construction, maintenance, and repair tasks. Additionally, this position involves performing multiple tasks like hand digging, handling and installing products in ditches, and maintaining equipment cleanliness.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
  • The candidate must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
  • Prior experience in electrical substations is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
  • Understand and comply with the Company Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and industry-specific professional conduct standards.
  • Work safely and assist in new construction, demolition, site preparation, excavating, backfilling, landscaping, trenching, pole setting, cable labeling, and other substation-related tasks.
  • Ability to concentrate on learning safety procedures, making up material, stocking trucks, and assisting other crew members.
  • Assist with installing transformer and transformer banks, bus structures and switchgear, lines (underground/overhead), ground grid, control buildings, and other related substation material tasks.
  • Operators must be experienced in backhoe, trencher, excavator, skid steer, bulldozer, and other various types of equipment.
  • Will work with man baskets, skid steers, shovels, compactors, backhoes, and other equipment.
  • Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
  • Operates small, motorized equipment including but not limited to chain saws, jackhammers, hydraulic tools, and hand tools.
  • Works around hazardous equipment.
  • Works near energized parts or equipment.
  • Must be able to operate equipment in confined spaces.
  • Exposed to traffic and may be required to have training on traffic flagging.
  • Works around excessive noise from machines.
  • Aid the crew in the completion of their duties.
  • Learn the basic materials and equipment used in substation construction.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the job site and equipment.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
  • Must be able to handle various tools as well as proper maintenance of tools.
  • Must be able to read blueprints or have the ability to learn.
Physical Demands:
  • This position involves Heavy Work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, lift and grab; reach with hands and arms; push and pull; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; talk, see clearly and hear.
  • Work is performed outside and includes exposure to extreme cold, heat, inclement weather & noise.
