Position Overview:

The purpose of the Sales Manager role is to embody the mission, vision, and values of Carter's, thereby fostering a high-performing team that consistently achieves outstanding results. In collaboration with the store management team, the Sales Manager oversees the overall productivity of the store. Key responsibilities include supporting the management team in driving financial performance through exceptional store standards, effective execution of company strategies, and fostering positive customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

  • Communicates professionally and effectively with team members, management, and associates.
  • Regularly addresses employee concerns with the Store Manager for prompt resolution.
  • Assists in recruitment efforts and ensures timely filling of open positions.
  • Provides consistent, real-time feedback to the store team.
  • Recognizes and rewards outstanding performance to enhance employee engagement.
  • Welcomes feedback positively and takes appropriate action based on it.
  • Collaborates with the Store Manager to address performance issues among associates.

Performance Management

  • Maintains a neat, clean, and organized store environment.
  • Exhibits exceptional customer service behaviors and upholds high standards throughout the store.
  • Leads and executes an assigned Division of Responsibility (DOR) through careful planning and follow-through.
  • Acts as Leader on Duty, driving results and addressing customer concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Assists store management in adjusting schedules based on business needs to maximize sales and productivity.
  • Regularly communicates with the Store Manager to discuss strengths, opportunities, and business trends.
  • Utilizes customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and implement actions to enhance results.

Operational Excellence

  • Supports the planning and execution of store processes and merchandise placement efficiently while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Ensures Asset Protection through consistent customer service, education, and operational controls.
  • Implements Company directives within established timelines, including visual merchandising, signage, markdowns, and promotional sales.
  • Builds customer loyalty through company-sponsored programs.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in retail store management.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer engagement.
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; climb ladders as needed.
  • Frequent walking and standing; regular bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

Availability:

  • Regular work frequency is required to maintain active employment status.
  • Changes in availability must be approved by the Store Manager and will be evaluated based on business needs.
  • Scheduled shifts typically range from 3 to 8 hours in length, subject to applicable state laws.
