Job Summary:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist participates in activities that ensure quality patient care. This role involves performing radiographic exams that utilize ionizing radiation while providing protection for all patients using ALARA principles. The technologist also supervises staff technologists in the correct use of radiation-producing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform radiographic exams that utilize ionizing radiation while providing protection for all patients using ALARA principles.
• Supervise staff technologists in the correct use of radiation-producing equipment.
• Participate in performance improvement activities in the Radiology Department.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities within the hospital or in the Radiology Department.
• Adhere to principles of infection control in performing direct patient care.
• Perform safety/control checks on department equipment as per department standards.
• Demonstrate proper application of medication administration principles.
• Provide protection of the patient via proper lead shielding, confidentiality, railing, etc.
• Wear radiation film badge all the time while in work status.
• Explain procedures to patients and ensure that the proper consent forms are signed.
• Provide age-appropriate care, as evidenced by completion of age-specific competency checklist.

Requirements:

• ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification required.
• BLS (AHA or ARC) certification required.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to customer service.
• Communicates effectively with all applicable customers and age groups.
• Must possess ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently.

Work Environment:

This role is based at Atrium Health Pineville, with a rotating call schedule every other weekend. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will work Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm.
