Hospice of the Piedmont Inc. is in search of a dedicated and proficient Registered Nurse to become an integral part of our Evening, Night, & Weekend Team (NEWT). This role focuses on providing exceptional care during after-hours in an on-call capacity. As a vital member of our hospice program, you will ensure the comfort, dignity, and overall well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond efficiently to service calls and perform home visits to evaluate patients' needs while delivering compassionate nursing care.
- Continuously monitor and reassess patient requirements, collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals to guarantee optimal comfort and quality of life.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding disease progression, symptom management, and end-of-life care alternatives.
- Deliver specialized nursing services in line with agency protocols, ensuring precise and timely documentation of patient evaluations and interventions using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Actively engage in interdisciplinary team meetings, providing valuable insights to enhance the overall care plan.
- Stay informed about best practices and advancements in hospice care through ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
- A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is preferred, particularly in hospice, palliative care, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of hospice regulations, practices, and standards of care, along with excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Compassionate and empathetic disposition, with a sincere commitment to providing comfort and support during difficult times.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting, proficient in utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare software.
