Position Overview
The Consultant Management Team (CMT) oversees all consultants engaged in engineering and design services for Substation and Transmission line initiatives. With a diverse portfolio of projects, the CMT prioritizes high-impact tasks to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within budget. In this capacity, you will serve as a technical project manager or project lead for designated substation projects.
In this role, you will utilize extensive knowledge of engineering principles across various assignments and related fields. You will independently address engineering challenges and represent the organization in project discussions to resolve critical issues and coordinate efforts. This position necessitates advanced methodologies and the adaptation of theories and practices from the field and associated disciplines. The expertise required for this level typically stems from extensive experience.
Recognized as the technical authority or subject matter expert, you will apply advanced theories, concepts, and principles to your assigned responsibilities. You will contribute to the formulation of new principles and concepts. Challenges will often involve complex studies that require innovative approaches and sophisticated research techniques. You will manage significant projects or multiple complex initiatives of moderate to large scope, acting as the organization's representative on advanced projects and programs. You will also advise management and clients on advanced technical research and applications, maintaining communication with various stakeholders on technical matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate advanced technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of related disciplines. Apply unique technical skills and core competencies at this engineering level by utilizing advanced principles, theories, and concepts.
- As a recognized internal technical expert, design and implement research to develop procedures, codes, and standards in complex problem areas, supporting the creation of technical documentation through innovative studies.
- Exercise authority and technical leadership on self-initiated assignments that align with strategic business objectives.
- Lead multiple critical and complex projects, including research, design, equipment specification, installation, commissioning, and evaluation of project outcomes.
- Advise management and clients on advanced technical research and applications, managing bid processes that include preparing bid documents and conducting technical evaluations.
- Act as the organization's spokesperson on advanced projects, influencing communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to engineers, interns, and technicians, fostering knowledge transfer and continuous development of technical skills.
- Coordinate processes related to budgeting, estimating, and work order management to support ongoing engineering projects and future proposals.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent).
• Relevant engineering experience: 9+ years for Principal level, 5+ years for Senior level, and 2+ years for Staff level.
• Demonstrated technical skills and competencies established by the organization.
