Position Summary:
We are seeking a Vision Care Technician to become a vital part of our professional team, delivering healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families.

Employment Type:
Full-time

Compensation:
$21 - $25 per hour

Work Schedule:
Shifts will be 8.5 hours long, including a 30-minute lunch break, with a maximum of 40 hours per week. Typical hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a certificate from an optometric technician program or have two years of relevant experience in the field.

Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required.

Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as an Optometric Technician or Technologist is necessary after graduation.

Board Certification:
Candidates must hold and maintain current certification from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Optometry or have completed a formal optometric training program.

Key Responsibilities:
The Vision Care Technician will perform a variety of essential tasks to assist optometrists and ophthalmologists, including:
  • Conducting initial patient interviews to collect medical and visual histories.
  • Reviewing medical records to gather additional information for vision assessments.
  • Assisting in preliminary examinations by conducting various screening and technical procedures.
  • Setting up diagnostic equipment and conducting tests such as visual acuity, muscle balance, and color vision assessments.
  • Administering medications as prescribed by the optometrist.
  • Assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, including spectacles and contact lenses.
  • Tracking and managing spectacle orders and ensuring timely distribution.
  • Providing patient education on eye care and contact lens handling.
