Position Overview
Tankcarcleaning is looking for a skilled and adaptable Railcar Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting our railcar maintenance operations, focusing on the upkeep and repair of both tank and freight cars. We provide comprehensive training for candidates without prior railcar experience, making this an excellent opportunity for those with a strong mechanical background.

Key Responsibilities
As a Railcar Maintenance Technician, your duties will include:
1. Conducting inspections and performing repairs on freight cars in accordance with industry standards and company protocols.
2. Removing, repairing, and replacing various mechanical components, including gates, draft gear, and safety appliances.
3. Traveling to different job sites as required, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
4. Utilizing technical drawings and manuals to accurately remove, fabricate, repair, and install components.
5. Applying decals, stenciling, and performing touch-up painting on railcars.
6. Maintaining all necessary certifications, including welding and NDT certifications, while demonstrating knowledge of relevant regulations.
7. Performing preventative maintenance on facility assets as directed by management.
8. Assisting with inventory management and ordering of necessary parts and supplies.
9. Upholding cleanliness and organization of the work environment.
10. Operating heavy machinery and tools safely and effectively.
11. Adhering to all safety standards and reporting any issues to supervisors.
12. Engaging in railcar cleaning activities as needed.
13. Keeping accurate records of all job functions.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Certification in NDT level II BBT, MPI, and S-486 air test (training available for the right candidate).
- Proven welding experience with stick/MIG (training to AWS D15.1 provided).
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as necessary.
- Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical capability to meet job demands, including lifting up to 70 lbs unassisted and working in various conditions.
