6NE is a specialized Progressive Care unit where Registered Nurses are equipped with the skills to manage patients with more complex medical conditions compared to a standard Medical-Surgical unit. All nursing staff on 6NE undergo Critical Care training, ensuring a high level of preparedness. Advanced Practice Providers are present during both day and night shifts, collaborating with nurses and physicians during rounds.

Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse, adhering to the ANA scope of practice, employs the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care. This includes integrating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and facilitate discharge. The RN is responsible for providing high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures. Recognizing the influence of nursing care and patient/family collaboration on health outcomes is essential. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan and develops educational strategies for patients and families, documenting all learning in the health record.

Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required within five years for Graduate Nurses or Registered Nurses with less than one year of experience.
- Graduates from non-accredited nursing programs must have a minimum of one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role, along with successful completion of the NCLEX exam.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is required within 60 days of hire.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
Work Schedule
This position is full-time, primarily scheduled for night shifts, with a commitment of 40 hours per week. The RN will work 12-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with every other weekend required.
