Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:
Making Waves Academy is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective instruction for students with special needs, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Develop and implement lesson plans that engage all students with special needs, differentiate instruction according to varied learning styles, and provide targeted specialized academic intervention to support students' progress toward IEP goals.
- SPED Case Management: Complete required compliance documentation for IEPs, communicate with outside SPED stakeholders and providers, and collaborate with parents/guardians on caseload of students' progress at school.
- Assessment: Design and administer a wide range of performance assessments to measure student progress, analyze and reflect upon quantitative and qualitative student data, and inform instructional practice.
- Classroom Management and Communication: Establish and maintain a well-organized and structured classroom environment, manage classroom behavior, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
Requirements:
- Experience: Teaching experience is desirable, but related work experience may be considered.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required, California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate) is required.
- Skills: Highly effective communication skills, ability to adapt and align with school-related initiatives, highly organized, goal-oriented, and focused on outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree in Education or a related field preferred.
- Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.
