Job Summary

Mercy San Juan Medical Center is seeking an experienced Telemetry RN for a travel contract. As a Telemetry RN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities
  • Certification Requirements
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
    • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is required.
    • Dysrhythmia exam through Relias is required.
  • Job Details
    • Work as a Telemetry RN in a hospital near Sacramento.
    • Provide patient care in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Requirements
    • 2 years of experience as a Telemetry RN.
    • Hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CA License.
  • Schedule Information
    • Work 12-hour shifts.
    • Shift starts at 6:45 AM.
    • Report to the bedside.
    • OT and extra shifts are available.
    • Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it.
    • Schedules are out 4 weeks.
    • Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves available for extra shifts and trades with other staff.
    • Block scheduling is generally not available.
  • Unit Specific Information
    • Work in 5N Definitive Obs unit.
    • 23 beds in the unit.
    • 1:4-5 patient-to-nurse ratio.
    • Cerner EMR system.
    • Charge Nurse is available for break relief.
    • Nurse Aides are available as needed.
    • Every other weekend is required.
    • Holidays are rotated with core staff.
    • Scrub color is navy, with white or black under shirts.
    • Tele monitoring is required.
    • Vents are not used in the unit.
    • Cardiac drips are used, but no titration is required.
    • Hospitalist or Intensivist is available 24/7.
    • IV Team is not available.
    • RT and Pharmacy are available 24/7.
    • Floating to other Sacramento facilities is possible.
    • Floor-specific orientation is provided.
    • Common diagnoses include general Tele patients, non-titratable drips, chest pain, CHF, COPD, MI, and other Cardiac dx.
  • Additional Details
    • 2 supervisor references are required at submittal.
    • For Holiday RTO, travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays.
    • Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling.
    • Holiday time off is considered, but not guaranteed.
    • Modules are required to be completed before start of assignment.
    • Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete.
    • Med Sol prescreens and offers off clinical prescreens.
    • Prior to acceptance, the Dysrhythmia exam through Relias is required to be sent along with acceptance.
