Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthopedic Nurse to join our team at Carle Health. As a member of our Orthopedic Unit, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and care for patients with orthopedic and medical surgical conditions, including limb trauma and low acuity medical patients.
  • Implement and modify plans of care based on patient and family needs, in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Provide education to patients and families on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs.
  • Coordinate with physician and surgeon partners to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Delegate and monitor interventions of the healthcare team, including HCT staff.
  • Set up orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care.
  • Manage wound appliances, such as wound vacs, drains, pouches, and other urological devices.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or College Diploma in Nursing.
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License in Illinois.
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients.
  • Complete annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements.
