Job Overview
SUMMARY:
The incumbent will be responsible for the analysis, management, and oversight of various chemistry and biochemistry policies, programs, and practices. This role requires providing expert feedback and guidance regarding the evaluation of materials, products, and devices using intermediate to complex professional knowledge in chemistry and biochemistry, along with relevant instrumentation and testing procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position encompasses a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to:
- Conducting intermediate to complex analyses to support the testing of various materials, products, and devices using diverse analytical instruments, adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and documenting testing results with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
- Overseeing the completion and processing of various chemistry and biochemistry documentation, databases, and related materials.
- Providing expert analysis and counsel to staff and management on chemistry and biochemistry policies and practices, facilitating operational improvements and changes.
- Researching and resolving inquiries from management and employees, while coordinating customer feedback and necessary resources.
- Continuously analyzing operations and results to identify trends, draw conclusions, and present findings and recommendations to management.
- Ensuring the integrity of tests, equipment, and operational databases through regular audits and reviews, collaborating with teams to address discrepancies.
- Assisting in the development of project objectives, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation, while effectively communicating with management.
- Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment and samples to ensure optimal functionality.
- Interpreting and applying departmental policies and relevant regulations, providing guidance as necessary.
- Contributing to the efficiency of departmental services by actively participating in team initiatives and offering constructive suggestions.
- Promoting a positive workplace environment by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior in all interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field, coupled with two years of relevant experience in chemistry or biochemistry, particularly in complex programs or operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Intermediate to advanced principles and practices of chemistry and biochemistry.
- Understanding of the administration and oversight of chemistry and biochemistry programs.
- Proficiency in problem-solving methods related to chemistry and biochemistry.
- Familiarity with applicable laws, codes, and regulations in the field.
- Knowledge of testing tools and equipment calibration.
- Competence in relevant computer applications and systems.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with staff and customers.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role requires mobility to work in both laboratory and office settings, the ability to use standard office and laboratory equipment, and stamina for extended periods of sitting. The position may involve lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is conducted in a laboratory and office environment, with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and other laboratory-related materials.
