Position Overview

NW Employment Solutions is collaborating with a prominent Steel Fabrication Company seeking to enhance their workforce by adding a skilled Laser Cutting Technician.

Core Responsibilities

The primary function of this role involves setting up, adjusting, and operating laser machinery and punch equipment to execute various tasks such as laser cutting, punching, blanking, shearing, forming, and drawing components according to specified designs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adheres to the standard operating procedures established by the department.
  • Manages scrap disposal efficiently.
  • May provide guidance and oversight to less experienced team members.
  • Reviews and approves parts produced by fellow operators.
  • Complies with safety regulations, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to foster a secure working environment.
  • Conducts routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintains a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Punch Operations
  • Coordinates tool changes, ensuring proper punch tolerances and die clearances are maintained.
  • Deburrs components as necessary, ensuring finished products meet aesthetic standards.
  • Inspects and sharpens dies and punches to optimize tool performance.
  • Communicates tooling requirements based on new or updated products and proposes enhancements to improve productivity and efficiency.

In this role, you will also:

  • Position, align, and secure punches and dies; adjust ram stroke and material stop gauges; set stripper or ejecting mechanisms.
  • Work from technical drawings, patterns, templates, or samples; produce samples for quality inspection; make adjustments to achieve required specifications and quality while meeting production timelines.
  • Maintain tools and machinery, performing regular preventive maintenance.
  • Write basic programming for operations.
