Job Overview
Execute custodial responsibilities across various facilities associated with the Sheriff's Office.

Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties

Note: Depending on assigned duties, personnel may carry out some or all of the tasks listed below.
  • Sanitize and restock restroom supplies.
  • Dispose of waste materials, including garbage and recyclables.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces in communal areas (e.g., classrooms, break rooms).
  • Vacuum carpeted spaces and sweep/mop hard surface floors.
  • Clear debris from sidewalks adjacent to buildings and facilities.
  • Report any damages and needs for significant repairs or maintenance of facilities and cleaning equipment.
  • Assist in managing inventory, ordering, and restocking of cleaning supplies and related materials.
  • Secure and open facilities and common areas as instructed.
  • Perform additional related tasks as necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with cleaning agents, products, and equipment.
  • Understanding of safety protocols for handling cleaning materials.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Capability to mix cleaning solutions according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and transport supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to remain on feet and move for an 8-hour shift.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of at least the 10th grade.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in custodial or janitorial roles.
Additional Requirements
  • Attendance at the designated Sheriff's Office work location is mandatory.
  • Depending on the role, a valid Florida Driver License may be required at the time of employment.
  • No visible tattoos on the face, head, or neck. Tattoos that detract from a professional appearance must be covered appropriately.
  • No history of illegal drug sales in a lifetime.
  • No illegal drug use within the past 36 months; no marijuana use within the last 12 months.
  • No felony convictions in a lifetime.
  • No misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statements, or domestic violence in a lifetime.
  • No dishonorable discharge from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal, reference, employment, and neighborhood checks; polygraph; medical evaluation; and drug screening.
