Job Overview

The Flat Rate Technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicle components with efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to dealership and manufacturer standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle inspections, troubleshooting, and testing to determine required or recommended repairs
  • Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform necessary repairs, including engine failures, mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, and part replacements
  • Verify vehicle serviceability and ensure quality repairs by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems as needed
  • Communicate with Service Advisor and/or Dispatcher regarding additional work requirements
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with operating procedures
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two-year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ASE Certification preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills, communication skills, and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and repair processes
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to quality
Work Environment

The Flat Rate Technician will primarily work in an automotive shop environment, exposed to various weather conditions and safety hazards. The position requires standing for prolonged periods, lifting over 50 pounds with assistance, and performing repetitive motions.
