Role Overview
In this role, you will operate both independently and collaboratively with fellow engineers to create standard and prototype equipment tailored to meet customer requirements. Your responsibilities will include researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems that align with client specifications, such as switchgear, auxiliary components ranging from 480V to 15kV, automatic transfer schemes, standby generators, motor control centers, transformers, and UPS systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on innovative design concepts based on customer requirements, prepare conceptual design packages, perform site surveys, and support manufacturing, installation, and setup.
- Analyze product attributes including safety, market appeal, production efficiency, and methods for distribution and maintenance.
- Design electrical equipment, components, and systems for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. Create sketches, detailed drawings, illustrations, or blueprints using drafting tools or computer-aided design software.
- Ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing adhere to functional specifications and customer expectations.
- Collaborate within a team environment to achieve a cohesive final product, working alongside Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Engineer Interns, Operations, Production, Quality, and Purchasing teams.
- Provide comprehensive documentation, detailed instructions, and specifications to guide the fabrication, construction, assembly, modification, maintenance, or usage of devices and structures.
- Guarantee product quality by developing electrical testing methods in conjunction with Quality Control; conduct testing on finished products and system capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with third-party specifications and standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Travel to client locations as necessary to present designs and reports for approval and discuss potential modifications.
- Enhance professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, and networking with peers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with five to ten years of experience in electrical engineering design and testing preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of control system design, including programming, component selection, testing, and modifications.
- Familiarity with panel board, lighting, outlet, grounding, conduit, and wiring design.
- Ability to create, interpret, and modify layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Electric and SolidWorks is advantageous.
- Capability to collaborate with various teams and manage projects effectively.
