About This Role

At TotalMed, we are seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team in Rapid City, South Dakota. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care in the Step Down Unit, transitioning patients from intensive care to general medical-surgical units.

The ideal candidate will have two years of recent experience in a similar setting, with a strong focus on communication and adaptability. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, administering medications, performing procedures, and educating patients and families on post-intensive care recovery.

We offer a competitive salary of $42,439 per year, based on 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM shifts, three days a week. In addition to your base pay, you can also expect benefits including a 401(k) plan, licensure reimbursement, continuing education opportunities, and housing assistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care to general medical-surgical units.
  • Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and respiratory status in the step-down unit.
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on post-intensive care recovery, medication management, and self-care techniques.
Requirements:
  • Current RN license
  • BLS (Other certifications as required by facility)
  • Two years of recent Step Down experience
  • Strong communication and adaptability skills
